IMBA's Trail Care crew Project: building new singletrack at Beacon

September 15, 2007

Trail School is a huge success! We had more than 30 folks turn out for trail school, from as far as Republic and Sandpoint. Ryan and Kristin of IMBA gave a fantastic presentation about how to build great trails and bike parks, and then we headed to Camp Sekani for some hands on training in sustainable building. Thanks to our volunteers, we built 963 of singletrack in three hours! This new trail is above the sandpit, has some fun slick rock lines, and will be park of the new skills/challenge area. It was a really fun day.

First the trail had to be flagged to prevent total chaos.

Mike going to work with the chainsaw

A Necessary evil: Cutting trees down

The trail starts to take shape

Giving the trail some outslope

A steep section being armored and filled

Making sure the trail is fun

Thanks to all the volunteers who took part in this event

And a big thanks to IMBA's Trail Care crew of Ryan and Kristin.
